Housing & Dining

Residence Hall Room Applications

Those wishing residence hall housing for Summer 2010 should apply online via the Housing website by clicking the Housing Application button.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact Housing Services Reservations (509) 335-4577 or go to the second floor Streit-Perham Administrative Suite. Applications are accepted on a space-available basis. Residence halls open at 10:00 a.m., May 9, 2010. The minimum contract period is two weeks (14 nights). Summer Session 2010 ends July 30. Summer contracts may be purchased through August 7. Only residents with fall residence hall reservations may extend their summer contracts until August 13 when all halls open for the fall semester. At that time, residents will move into their fall assignments and early check-in charges (until August 15) will be automatically added to their Housing and Dining accounts.

Residence Hall Cost Per Day  

Summer housing is provided in McEachern and Orton Halls; the minimum stay is two weeks. The daily rates are:
McEachern Hall (single occupancy) approximately $23.00
Orton Hall (single occupancy) approximately $24.00

McEachern and Orton Halls house students in comfortable single rooms. All rooms are furnished with a bed, chest of drawers, desk, chairs, and a study lamp. Washers and dryers are available. Rooms are furnished with a Microfridge (Orton) or refrigerator (McEachern).

Payments  

Those desiring a room must pay a $100.00 down payment. Please understand that payment of the remainder of the summer housing costs must be made by the Monday of the 4th week of my summer contracted period. Payments must be received by the Housing and Dining Financial Services Office by the dates indicated or there will be a late-payment fee. NO INVOICES OR STATEMENTS WILL BE MAILED. Payments are due as scheduled without further demand or notice. Check-In  

New residents checking in for summer term may do so between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.

Check-out  

Upon completion of the summer contract, or early check out, students check out via the hall front desk. Students must completely fill out all sections of their Room Inventory Agreement and turn in their room keys. Failure to check out may result in further charges.

Housing for Less than Two Weeks  

Persons requiring housing for less than two weeks may stay on a space-available basis in summer hotel housing. Room rental rates for persons not under contract and/or for less than two weeks (14 nights) are as follows: Single occupancy per night $27 plus tax.

Family Housing and Single Student Apartments

Refunds  

Refunds are not given for days a room is not occupied during a contracted period. If circumstances beyond an individual’s control make it necessary to withdraw from the University before the end of the Summer Session, refunds will be made for prepaid and unused days.

Cancellations  

Reservation cancellations must be received in writing or via email, housing@wsu.edu. Cancellations received less than seven days prior to contracted check-in date are subject to a late cancellation charge of $25.

Dining  

The Northside Cafe provides summer meal service for conference business from May 11-August15, for Breakfast from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM,  Lunch from 11:30AM to 1:00 PM and Dinner from  5:00PM to 6:30 PM Monday through Friday.  Weekend hours for conference business is Brunch from 10:00AM to 11:30AM and 5:00PM to 6:30PM for dinner both Saturday and Sunday. Meal hours are posted at the entrance of the dining center and on the web at  http://livingat.wsu.edu/hdrl/common/Dining/Hours/hours.asp.  Non conference Customers may pay cash or use Cougar CASH which can be purchased at Housing and Dining Financial Services, Streit-Perham Building. Cougar CASH customers realize significant savings at all Dining Services locations on campus. Please be aware that Northside Café will only be open when a conference is scheduled.

Fall Housing  

Living in the residence halls or apartments during summer does not guarantee fall occupancy. Contracts for the fall are separately arranged. All summer contracts terminate no later than August 7, 2010 for students without a fall residence hall contract and August 13, 2010 for students with a valid fall residence hall assignment.
